Jones Metal Proudly Serves Defense Industry for More Than a Decade - Jones Metal Products

With several certifications including NADCAP, HUBZone, CMMC, and ITAR registration, the Jones Metal Team can handle mission-critical components.

Precision and quality are two of the most important factors considered when manufacturers in the defense industry partner with a metal processor. Everything from tanks to helicopters and even stealth bombers requires precision-formed parts to operate correctly. We understand. We’ve proudly worked on them all, and then some, for more than a decade.

How We Do It

It’s a fact that the defense industry requires high standards for mission-critical components. By using our hydroforming process to create components that are durable, dependable, and made to stand up to the punishing service requirements of the industry, we meet and even exceed these exacting requirements. With hydroforming, even parts with complex forms can be molded to precise size, depth, and shape parameters.

Our hydroforming processes can accommodate blanks up to 32.5 inches to form parts with depths up to 12 inches and diameters to 27 inches. We also operate at forming pressures up to 10,000 psi, tackling material gauges up to 3/8 inches (steel) and 1 inch (aluminum). We have deep experience working with many varieties of metals, including:

We also work with various clad metals and state-of-the art alloys including hastelloys, inconels, cobalt, and nickel alloys.

Additionally, we’ve recently invested in TRUMPF’s TruLaser Cell 7040 system to help us produce parts of all volumes more efficiently for our customers. For specific parts where tolerances are too tight for a final laser-cut, we can use this laser as a precut operation to get parts to near net shape. If tolerances are plus or minus .015 inches, the entire trim can take place on the TRUMPF laser.

Whether you are interested in producing exhausts, housings, engine covers, or any other piece of defense equipment, hydroforming is an ideal option. We can even help you recreate older parts from discontinued runs, all while ensuring high levels of quality and consistency.

Jones Metal is Qualified and Credentialed

We regularly invite outside accrediting organizations to observe and validate our processes. Since 1999, we have maintained continuous industry certifications and recognitions including:

  • CMMC Certification (in progress)

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is the Department of Defense’s newest verification mechanism designed to ensure that cybersecurity controls and processes adequately protect Controlled Unclassified Information that resides on Defense Industrial Base systems and networks.

  • HUBZone Certification

Jones Metal is a certified HUBZone small business, which enables government agencies to use us for their set aside programs. The HUBZone program fuels small business growth in historically underutilized business zones with a goal of awarding at least 3 percent of federal contract dollars to HUBZone-certified companies each year.

  • ITAR Registered Manufacturer

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) governs the export and re-export of certain controlled commodities, services, and, most importantly, technologies. In order to be controlled under ITAR as a defense article, a given component, subcomponent, part, assembly, subassembly, or integrated system must have been specifically designed, developed, configured, adapted, or modified for a military application controlled under the United States Munitions List.

  • NADCAP Accredited

Jones Metal is an expert in heat treating to National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) standards. NADCAP specifies a standardized approach to quality products and a reduction in redundant auditing throughout the aerospace industry. In 1990, the Performance Review Institute (PRI) established NADCAP standards to encourage the development of a world-class supply base for the global aerospace industry.

  • Smithers Quality Assessments, Inc’s ISO 9001:2015 without Design Certification

This quality management system is applicable to our metal forming, fabricating, and stamping processes with hydroformed and deep-drawn shapes for aerospace and commercial industries.
